Hello to all travelers coming to Taiwan!
This is Oracle.
Today, I visited a Chinese restaurant with a friend.
She is a Korean woman married to a Taiwanese person and has been living in Taiwan for about five years.
She used to study Chinese with me in the past. We still meet up from time to time to share a meal and talk about our work and daily lives.
The restaurant we visited today is called Fushunlou Restaurant (富順樓).
It has multiple locations across Taipei and is known for its affordable prices and excellent food.
Back when I worked at the Taipei World Trade Center, I used to eat here often.
The restaurant’s most famous dish is Peking Duck! If you have a group of four or more, I highly recommend it. You can order it by making a reservation in advance, and the price for a whole duck is around $40.
Since it was just my friend and me today, we only ordered a few simple Chinese dishes.

The first dish is 椒鹽排骨 (Salt and Pepper Spare Ribs)—a rib dish made with chili and pepper.
The ribs are deep-fried and then topped with salt, pepper, and spicy chili peppers.
It’s absolutely delicious! I highly recommend this dish!

My second favorite dish is this one—蟹黃豆腐 (Crab Roe Tofu), a dish made with crab meat and tofu.
I’ve tried this dish at many different places, but this restaurant makes it the best!
The key to its deliciousness is the lightly seared exterior of the soft tofu, which adds a perfect texture.

This dish features beef stir-fried with 沙茶醬 (Shacha Sauce), one of Taiwan’s most famous sauces.
The combination of tender vegetables and beef is absolutely excellent.
If someone were to ask me to name the essential sauce in Taiwanese cuisine, I would say Shacha Sauce without hesitation. It pairs well with just about anything!

This is 肉絲炒飯 (Shredded Pork Fried Rice), one of the most classic fried rice dishes in Taiwan.
肉絲 (Ròusī) refers to thinly sliced or shredded meat.
Simple is best!
